Hello I recently bought the tam aqua lifter designed for the continuous siphon overflow. Before I was using a Maxijet 1200 to keep the siphon going, but these things really heat up the water so I have switched.
Couple questions do I really need that weird filter they make for it? I have a check valve installed which seems to have the same cottony material as the $3 filter they offer. Also anything I can do to make it run optimally and how long before it craps out?
Thanks. |

The Aqua Lifter will be more efficient in drawing any air pockets that may get swept into the overflow. These pumps do not usually require additional filters or check valves. They will work with or without these parts. Most Aqua Lifters will last about three to four months. They are fairly inexpensive and can be easily replaced. Some hobbyists are keeping back up AL on hand in case one goes out.

| The Aqua Lifter pump has had some improvements since they were first introduced. The pumps have parts that last longer when used with salt water and should last several months. The pumps are still inexpensive and keeping a back up is a good idea. |
