I have a 92 gallon soon to be reef/fish tank.
Most of the filtration will be from live rock, but I am also creating a sump/refugium to rid nitrates.
I'm curious which CPR I should get because I don't know how much gph i need to overflow into my sump. My sump i don't have yet, but am planning to get one of about 30 gallon size with some bio balls, an area for algae, and a skimmer.
The sump itself can handle varying gph so that is not an issue.
How much is TOO MUCH gph coming out of a 92 gallon tank? I was thinking the cs102, but I guess I could also go smaller since i've seen people using the 102 for much bigger applications.
If it doesn't matter, I think I would go larger in case one day I get a larger tank I could continue using the same overflow.
Thanks everyone for any suggestions! |

The CS100 or the CS102 would be plenty of flow for your 92 gallon tank. The flow rate through these overflow boxes will be determined by the flow rate coming from the return pump. If you expect to go to a larger tank size in the future, the two bulkheads on the CS102 can be plumbed together into one drain line. This will reduce the flow rate until the two lines are allowed to run independently.
I recommend also looking into the AquaFuge Pro refugiums. This will provide you with a large open refugium area for macro algae and also has a protein skimmer built in to the sump. This sump refugium will match up well with either the CS100 or CS102 overflow. |
